MCH has initiated this project under the ICMR, with the registry containing both national and local entries and other related details.

Tracing down rare groups such as AB negative, B negative, and extremely rare Bombay Blood group is a difficult task whereas A, B, and O positive blood group is easily available.Prasun Bhattacharya, Immunohematology and transfusion medicine, MCHK stated that the registry is expected to have all the information from across the nation. Also, the registry is a scientific network of rare blood groups modeled systematically. For example, if a patient in the Northern corner of Bengal needs a transfusion, the system will help us to find a donor in the southern corner of Bengal.
